Murcia (Spain), 19 March 2010 – HRT F1 team, Hispania Racing team, the newest F1 team in the paddock, acquired by Jose Ramon Carabante in February and led by team principal Dr Colin Kolles is ready for its second Formula One weekend after making its debut in Bahrain.

Unlike the other teams, HRT F1 Team joins the F1 paddock without having completed any pre-season testing. The team was forced to shakedown and run its car for the first time ever at the Bahrain Grand Prix after winning a fight against time to make it to the first round of the season as a fully functional team.

The team worked through the usual challenges any F1 outfit faces when running its new car for the first time, and was able start the race with both cars. The team’s overall ambitions remain high, but realistic that it will take time to catch up for its lost ground. Moving onto the next rounds of its debut season, HRT F1 Team’s goal is to improve steadily and make it to the chequered flag with at least one car. Team Principal Dr Colin Kolles comments, “We have worked extremely hard since the Bahrain season opener. We have worked long hours and successfully with Bridgestone, Cosworth and Xtrack learned from our first laps with the car and found a good basis from which to start preparation for our second Grand Prix in Australia in a few days. We have successfully repaired the damage sustained by Karun Chandhok’s car and focused on building our car’s reliability. Our goal is to improve steadily and the next step is to work towards our first race finish. I am confident we will achieve this goal very soon and having seen how we came together as a team in Bahrain I can see just how much potential and commitment we have.”

Karun Chandhok comments, “I am really looking forward to my second F1 race this weekend. I have never driven in Melbourne, but I am a very quick learner. I was able to work on a team’s simulator before the Grand Prix so that will help my familiarisation a little bit! Our next step with the team’s engineers is to make the car reliable for the race. The secret of good racing preparation is to complete as many laps as possible on Friday to see where we are with the car. Finishing the race would be a fantastic achievement we will strive for.”

Bruno Senna adds, “We need to continue building on what we achieved in Bahrain. We put two cars together and ran successfully in Bahrain. Now we must continue to work as a team. I came early to Australia early to acclimatise to the time difference. I love Australia more and more, as I spend more time here! I have already driven on the Melbourne track, back in 2006. I did the F3 support race for F1 back then and had a fairly successful weekend. I won! Now, I must work with the team to continue learning about the car. I have enjoyed working long hours with the team so far and I will be giving my all as I really want to progress and guarantee them good results.”

HRT F1 Team has made history and successfully completed its first laps and roll out on its debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix during the first practice session. In the second practice session the Brazilian covered 17 laps with a fastest time of 2.06.968 before losing a wheel nut on the way back to the pits, after the chequered flag had dropped.

The newly-rebadged HRT team have confirmed that Karun Chandhok will race for them this season. Chandhok, who has previously tested for Red Bull, will be the second Indian driver in the history of the world championship.

The announcement was made during an official presentation in the Spanish city of Murcia on Thursday. During the event the team also unveiled their car for the 2010 season.

“I am very pleased to use the Murcia site to officially unveil our car livery,” said team principal Colin Kolles. ”We also complete the driver’s team line up with the Indian Karun Chandhok at the wheel of the car for our first-ever season. We have been very impressed with Karun’s performance in GP2.

“Everything is now in place after an impossible race against time to register the team’s name and I truly believe that we have an excellent platform to build on and move forward for a strong 2010 performance. Now, we need to work together. We need to learn together and keep developing as a team.”

Chennai-born Chandhok was crowned the Asian Formula Renault V6 champion, with seven wins and nine pole positions in 2006. Over the next three seasons, he competed in the GP2 series, winning two races. Last year, he finished 18th in the GP2 standings, after clinching third-place at the British event.

The 26 year-old will partner Brazilian Bruno Senna at the squad.

Ramon Luis Valcarcel, President of the region of Murcia, Carlos Gracia, President of the Spanish Motorsport Federation and HRT team owner Jose Ramon Carabante were all in attendance at the event.

Jim Rickey have secured a deal as official footwear sponsor with the Hispania Racing F1 Team. Also knowned as HRT-F1 Team.


The sponsorship covers the whole tour of Formula1 2010 and 2011 starting from Barcelona race (FORMULA 1 Gran Premio de Espana Telefónixa 2010) 9th of May.

We got together with our friend and French artist Jaek El Diablo to collaborate on our classic Dreamtop.

Jaek El Diablo added some nice vintage sneaker influence into the colorway, which features a black/grey all-over pattern with red and black leather accents. Now its possible to find this collab at Printemps de l´homme  in a special box, coming with a dustbag and a matching t-shirt..

We met our new cool friend Tobias from SSON last year at the Terminal2 show in Copenhagen. We split several bottles of nice sparkling Cava which we traded against some strong Swedish snus (tobacco product) from some crazy spanish guys.

Later the same evening we decided that a SSON vs. Jim Rickey collab was great idea. We decided to base it around the 016 platform but thats was about as much we got done that day. It was a great day and the result is wicked. Think of it as the biggest possible BMX that you have seen and one that will get you to the afterparty in no time at all. After the afterparty it’s the after afterparty somewhere, hosted by  Jim Rickey.

We just came back from our trip in China & Korea and went directly to a event at the famous Red Devil store in Stockholm. Where we organized a  Jim Rickey Custom Kicks event together with some talented local artist…
